Short version: hosting isn't free, and I'd rather be upfront about it. No pressure though — this site isn't going anywhere either way.
Keeping this site online costs me

Not a lot of money, sure. I've been paying it out of pocket because I care about this project. But if you've ever found something useful here, or just want to help keep the lights on, tossing a few bucks my way makes a real difference.
The big ad companies? Yeah, they don't want to help small sites like this one. Tried going through the usual channels and got nowhere. Turns out they're not too interested unless you're pulling millions of visitors. So here we are, figuring it out ourselves. Every donation — even a dollar — helps more than some billion-dollar ad network ever would.
